Happy Halloween!
It's as good a time as any for me to start blogging again.
I'm not the biggest fan of carving pumpkins, because I don't like getting the rinds and gummy insides under my nails. However, I do love doing crafts, so I'm always interested in trying different techniques.Last year I had Nic to do the gross inside part for me, and I got to be artistic. This year my friend Carrie performed that task, which I greatly appreciated.
When Carrie invited me over, I knew I wanted to use a power drill to "carve" my pumpkin. If you have access to a power drill and you're bored of typical knife carving, I suggest you try it.
Power Drilling Tips:
- Be prepared for a mess. The pumpkin spins out in a spiral when you remove the drill, and will probably spray your friends.
- Pay attention to the thickness of your pumpkin and how long your drill bit needs to be. At the end I was adding smaller holes, and forgot that I needed to leave 2 inches on the drill bit to be able to go all the way through.
- For the candle to stay lit it needs lots of oxygen, my pumpkin didn't have enough so I had to leave the top off most of time.
