Unfortunately, the butter I had wiped onto the cookie trays melted while sitting on the stove, so the scones stuck to the bottom. The test scone tasted fine, so I decided I would bring them to the potluck anyway.

Cheddar, Oregano, and Thyme Scones
Makes 2 cookie sheets (depending on size of cookie cutter)
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 4 tbsps butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1/8 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 450* F. Grease two cookie sheets with butter or margarine on a paper towel.
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
- "Rub" small sections of butter into the bowl until it feels like breadcrumbs.
- Add sugar, cheese, oregano, thyme, and milk. Mix everything into a soft dough, use your hands to make it smooth.
- Flour a clean work-surface and your rolling pin. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut your shapes in the dough with a cookie cutter, and keep rolling it out until you have made all the scones.
- Place the scones on the cookie sheets, leaving lots of space between them. Brush the tops with milk to prevent burning.
- Bake for 7-10 minutes until golden. Let cool.
Enjoy!
